Hialeah, Florida – Florida National University (FNU) announces the restructuring of a key academic division. The Division of Psychology, which has over 300 students in three programs (BS Psychology, MS, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and MS Forensic Psychology) will be restructured to include the Departments of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies. This will add an additional 200 students currently studying in 7 different programs. The restructuring adds the AS, Criminal Justice, BS Criminal Justice, MS Criminal Justice, AS Paralegal Studies, BS, Legal Studies and two certificate programs, Crime Scene Investigation and Legal Assistant.

The academic division will be renamed the Social and Behavioral Science Division. Leading the Division, and serving as the Division Head is Dr. Jose Perez, a veteran administrator and academic leader. He will be joined by Dr. Osviel Alfonso who will serve as the Department Head for both Criminal Justice and Legal Studies. They will lead a diverse and accomplished faculty that possesses academic and professional experience in psychology, criminal justice and legal matters.

This academic realignment reflects the growing need for skilled graduates in social and behavioral sciences. It also aligns with FNU’s mission to offer and develop programs of study that will be rewarding for students, while enriching the community we serve.
